CIMA Business Leaders’ Summit 2018: Disruptive business models in Sri Lanka

The CIMA Business Leaders’ Summit 2018, the annual flagship event organised by CIMA Sri Lanka will unfold on 28 and 29 August at Shangri La Colombo under the theme ‘From insight to impact: Unlocking opportunities’. 

The inauguration will be held on 28 August from 6:30 p.m. onwards. The Chief Guest will be Minister of Science, Technology, Research, Skills Development, Vocational Training and Kandyan Heritage Dr. Sarath Amunugama. 

The thought leadership sessions will be held on 29 August from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. featuring presentations from reputed international and local speakers, where a host of C-Suite professionals will deliberate on current and relevant topics. 



Disruptive Business Models in Sri Lanka

Globally there are many disruptive models that have shaken the world. Certain Sri Lankan business models have been catalysts in transforming businesses in their own unique way. Session 3 on Disruptive Business Models in Sri Lanka will emphasise on the disruptive business models adopted by Sri Lankan businesses, the application of digital transformations in business models, early adopters, key learnings, etc.

N-able Managing Director/Chief Executive Peter D’Almeida will speak on the topic of ‘Disruptive Business Models in Sri Lanka’. D’Almeida founded N-able in 2008 with 12 others. While his diverse career spans nearly three decades in the banking, advertising and IT industries, D’Almeida has enjoyed a parallel career in the Arts, as an actor and a director. He has starred in plays, television dramas and films. He is reputed public speaker for a variety of forums across the education, business and technology sectors. 

His presentation will be followed by a panel discussion where an eminent panel will explore the identification of a ‘disruptive business’, whether innovation alone can make a disruptive business model, key contributions to the economy through the disruptive models, the formula of managing risk and reward, managing disruptive business processes and converting challenges to opportunities.

The session will be moderated by Daily FT Editor Nisthar Cassim. The eminent panellists who will join the speaker at the panel discussion are Iron One Technologies Chairman Lakmini Wijesundara, Nations Trust Bank Chief Operating Officer/Senior Executive Vice President Thilak Piyadigama and Linear Squared Founder Dr. Sankha Muthu-Poruthotage.

In addition to above, special sessions are scheduled on ‘Unlocking Opportunities in the Sri Lankan Economy’, ‘Design Thinking’ and ‘Mindfulness for Today’s Business Leader’, etc.
