BMICH triumphs at SATA with Leading Convention Center Award 2019

The BMICH, Sri Lanka’s most recognisable and iconic landmark, won the award for the ‘Leading Convention Center 2019’ at the prestigious South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) Ceremony held in Galle, Sri Lanka recently. This award is the fourth Travel Award won by BMICH in four years. 

SATA, endorsed by multinational associations, recognises the Tourism sector in the South Asian Region based on their facilities and service excellence. The South Asian Travel Awards aims to encourage and raise service standards of the Travel and MICE industries in the region.  “We are delighted to have triumphed as the ‘Leading Convention Venue’ at the South Asian Travel Awards. BMICH’s success in winning multiple awards over the years including the Leading Convention Award 2019 is a true endorsement of our capabilities and commitment to be the best of the region’s best,” said BMICH Director/CE Sunil Dissanayake.  

“Winning this prestigious award was indeed extremely competitive. In fact BMICH was selected as the leading convention venue for the year 2019 having triumphed over many other competing venues,” he added.   

The South Asia Travel Awards is the first of its kind for the travel, tourism and venues sector and has many affiliations with leading regional associations. The process of selecting winners is thus a transparent procedure. SATA is a concept of Maldivian company ‘Highrise’. 

The panel of judges comprised of high profile, senior representatives from each travel destination in the region with a vast knowledge and background of the industry to assure an accurate and fair process of selecting the winners. The event consisted of 50 categories and BMICH in Sri Lanka was named as the Leading Meeting and Convention Venue for 2019.
