The American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka (AmCham Sri Lanka) in a statement yesterday extended heartiest congratulations to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and the new Government of Sri Lanka on its unequivocal mandate of the people of Sri Lanka.

In its statement, AmCham Sri Lanka President Presantha Jayamaha said the clarity of confidence placed in President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and ninth Parliament of Sri Lanka through the historic results of the General Election bears testimony to exemplary vision and leadership that has steered our nation successfully through the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

AmCham Sri Lanka expressed confidence that this new chapter in Sri Lankan history, written with the pen of true democracy through the clear mandate given by the people will indeed usher Sri Lanka in to an era of sustained economic and social growth as its ninth Parliament of representatives guides the legislature of the nation under visionary and modern leadership. As the leading forum for the facilitation and development of business relations between Sri Lanka and the US, Sri Lanka’s largest export partner, AmCham Sri Lanka said it looks forward to working with the Government of Sri Lanka in order to further develop the longstanding and mutually beneficial partnership between the GoSL and AmCham SL. “We are confident that transparent and inclusive, constructive trade and investment policies of the new Government will encourage and enable both Sri Lankan and US businesses to grow and flourish, harnessing emerging business opportunities such as those from the shifts in the global supply chain, and are excited to explore opportunities in relation to US companies expanding investment in Sri Lanka under a stable and visionary trade and economic environment,” Jayamaha said.

AmCham also wished the President, the Prime Minister and the Government every success as they implement ‘Vistas of Prosperity’.
