Ajith Watthuhewa no more

The Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka’s (FCCISL) former President and Founder President of the Uva Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ajith Wattuhewa has passed away.

He was also the former Senior Vice President of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a member of the advisory committee of FCCISL. 

He created history by being elected as the first-ever President of FCCISL, representing a regional chamber. 

During his tenure (2014-2015), he introduced many new initiatives, such as the exploration of trade and investment opportunities in the Indian sub-continent and the Asia-Pacific for Sri Lankan SMEs, and the setting up of the SAARC Trade Promotion Network (SAARC TPN) to address trade issues.
