1st forum on Maritime Cities & Logistics Corridors of Western Province Megapolis Project

As the country embarks on a mission to make Sri Lanka the hub of the Indian Ocean for trade, commerce and logistics, the Western province megapolis will be a key factor to understand the planned logistics and maritime cities concept by the Ministry of Megapolis. With a major set of reforms and policy changes announced for the budget 2018 by Minister of Finance Mangala Samaraweera, the county can be put on a new footing to attract FDI and JV to the sector and increase shipping and logistics activities of Sri Lanka.

In this background, it is timely to unleash the Government’s planned designated corridors for maritime cities and logistics corridors to the industry. The corporate world and the international investors can plan to invest and expand in shipping, maritime and logistics activities in Sri Lanka as the conducive and enabling environment is been now adopted as per the proposals made by the Government.

The land, road and proposed corridors are now identified. The Shippers’ Academy Colombo invites local companies and international investors to the forum at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce on 17 November from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The presentation will be made by the project director megapolis for maritime cities and logistics corridors.
