Second local COVID-19 patient recovers, bringing total active cases to 99

One more COVID-19 patient has recovered in Sri Lanka, bringing the total number that has recovered and been discharged to three.

There are now 99 active cases in Sri Lanka, with the total confirmed cases being 102. According to the Health Promotion Bureau, 255 individuals remain in hospital and the latest situation report by the Epidemiology Unit shows that 100 of them are at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID).

The Epidemiology Unit report states that 88 of the 99 patients are at the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH), while 10 are in Welikanda and one is in Mulleriyawa. In addition to this, 33.3% of COVID-19 confirmed cases in Sri Lanka are in the 41 to 50 year age group. A total of 68% are male and 32% are female.

The district distribution of the confirmed cases shows that Colombo has 22 cases, Kalutara has 14, and Gampaha has 10. All three districts were declared high-risk areas yesterday. The quarantine centres reported a total of 34 individuals testing positive for COVID-19.
