Number of curfew violators netted by Police top 15,000

Police have arrested 1107 persons who violated curfew regulations, detaining 326 vehicles in the process, over a 24-hour period ending at 6 a.m. today.

According to the Police Media Unit, the number of curfew violators has not seen any significant drop in recent days. This, despite calls for the public to act more responsibly and adhere to curfew regulations during this national crisis. Since curfew regulations came into effect on 20 March, 15502 persons and 3991 vehicles have been taken into custody over curfew violations. Legal action will be taken against the violators, while their vehicles may be detained for the duration of the curfew, added a Police media release.
