The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today arrested a person suspected to be the organiser of the Easter Sunday attack on the Zion Church in Batticaloa last year.

The attack on the East Coast church killed 26, half of them children who were attending Sunday School.

According to Police Spokesman SP Jaliya Senarathne, the suspect, a resident of Mount Lavinia, is believed to have organised the East Coast attack and is suspected to have played a role in the transportation of explosives to a safe house.

The Police declined to release further information, citing ongoing investigations, except to say that those responsible will be hunted down. The suspect will appear before a magistrate court tomorrow.
