16 more persons recover from COVID-19, total recoveries rise to 382

Sixteen persons recovered from COVID-19 in the 24-hour period ending at 10 a.m. today, bringing the total count of recoveries in the country to 382.

This includes seven persons who were receiving treatment at the Homagama Base Hospital, six at the Kathankudi Base Hospital, two at the Colombo East Base Hospital, and one at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID).

The latest situation report by the Epidemiology Unit states that 20 new cases were identified since 10 a.m. yesterday. Of these, 19 were identified through active surveillance in the community and 12 were asymptomatic.

Of the new cases, 19 are Navy personnel and the Epidemiology Unit states that of the 581 cases identified since 22 April, 488 are Navy personnel and their close contacts.

The new cases has increased the number of active cases to 498, of which 216 are at the Navy Hospital, 111 are at the NIID, 81 are at the Colombo East Base Hospital, 44 are at the Homagama Base Hospital, 37 are at the Welikanda Base Hospital, eight are at the Iranawila Hospital, and one is at the Kathankudi Base Hospital. The total count of confirmed cases in Sri Lanka is 889, of which 454 are Navy personnel. In addition to this, 66 persons among local communities and 45 among overseas arrivals at quarantine centres have tested positive. The number of patients identified from the Colombo, Gampaha, and Puttalam districts remains unchanged at 150, 36, and 35 respectively.

The situation report also states that 105 suspect patients are under investigation at various hospitals, including 17 at the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital, 13 at the Negombo District General Hospital, and 13 at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka.
