01Following a Cabinet discussion on inconvenience to the public caused by protesters, Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government Faiszer Musthapha has been tasked with identifying three suitable locations to hold protests.

Suggestions were made to ensure that protesters are provided with all facilities such as water and sanitary facilities in the designated locations, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera told Daily FT.

Discussion also suggested Galle Face Green, a ground near the Parliament and another location in Pettah for the purpose.

“We will also provide facilities for the media to cover the protests and ensure that the locations are accessible to the public so that the protesters get the exposure they require,” the Minister said.

Minister Duminda Dissanayake, speaking at a press conference following the Cabinet meeting, said that he favoured allocating the Galle Face Green for this purpose.

“We can put two wide screens also to ensure that they get their exposure. There is enough room there for protests also,” he said. (CD)
