Annual Ifthar program celebrated at Sri Lanka Embassy in Doha

On 16 June, the Annual Ifthar ceremony was held at the Sri Lankan embassy premises in Qatar. The ceremony commenced at 5:30 p.m. The Sri Lankan flag was raised by Sri Lanka Ambassador to the State of Qatar A.S.P. Liyanage.

The Sri Lankan national anthem was played in both Sinhalese and Tamil followed by the Qatari national anthem. About 600 people participated in the ceremony.

The program commenced with religious observances. Addressing the gathering, the Ambassador highlighted the relevance of the Holy Prophet Muhammad’s message on fasting to guide mankind towards a modest and humble way in the modern world.

Representatives of several Sri Lanka organisations in Doha also attended the event, signifying the religious unity of Sri Lankans living in Doha.
