Industrial excellence awards by Chamber of Small and Medium Industries

The Sri Lanka Chamber of Small and Medium Industries will be holding the 47th Anniversary Celebrations, Industrial Excellence Award 2010 & Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 3 November 2010 at “Waters Edge” – Battaramulla.



The special guests for the occasion will be Rishad Bathiudeen M.P., Minister of Industry and Commerce, Nirsa Castro Guevara, Ambassador for Cuba in Sri Lanka, and Patricia Yoon-Moi Chia, Secretary-General, The Colombo Plan Secretariat.

The “industrial Excellence Award 2010” is held for the 5th consecutive year.

This year for the very first time, 25 contestants from the North and East are participating, just over one year after the dawn of peace in Sri Lanka following the eradication of terrorism from Sri Lanka.

 The industrialist winning the Platinum Award gets an Elegant Trophy and Cash Prize of Rs.25,000. Fifty six contestants from the other parts of the country, along with the Chamber membership,

10 manufacturing units are recognised for their excellence with a Platinum Trophy and a Cash Prize of Rs. 50,000. The panel of judges for the “Industrial Excellence Award 2010” was chaired by Professor Kapila Jayasinghe of the University of Moratuwa and the others on the panel, representing Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Board of Investment of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Development Board and a representative from the Chamber.

At this function, the Chamber will recognise two of their dedicated members who had contributed much to the Chamber activities. Late Samson Rajapakse JP founder chairman, DSI Group and member of the Executive Council at its inception in 1963 and late Sugath Kodituwakku JP, chairman Orient Holdings Ltd, who held office as president from 1985-1991 and 1994-1995.

The principal sponsor for these celebrations is Sri Lanka Telecom Plc.
