State Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe is to attend a CPA flagship fundamentals program at the University of Witwatersrand (WITS) in Johannesburg, South Africa

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association has launched a pioneering flagship program along with the 62nd Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference, held in London, the UK from 11-17 December 2016. This CPA fundamentals program on parliamentary practice and procedure aims to provide its members with:

  • Greater depth of knowledge of parliamentary practice and procedure
  • Increased in-depth and practical knowledge based on accepted theories and international good practices
  • An accredited qualification from an internationally recognised university

This is the first program of its kind and Senasinghe will be representing the Sri Lanka Parliament and will be attending the intensive face-to-face session, the final module of this program which will be conducted from 22-26 May 2017 at the University of Witwatersrand.

This program aims to develop well-informed, skilled parliamentary leaders who will go on to contribute to creating strong democratic legislatures that adhere to the principles of good governance.

The participation of Senasinghe and the experience gathered from this program will help to broaden the boundaries of all Sri Lankan parliamentarians.
