Just 30km away from Colombo is the golden sandy strip of Wadduwa, adorned with thousands of coconut trees that emanate a cool breeze, and occasional sightings of toddy tappers in their precarious situations. In this postcard-worthy resort town lies the Ocean Queen Hotel – the perfect holiday getaway.

Built by EM Hotels Ltd., a company that invests in construction of hotels, villas and houses, Ocean Queen, Wadduwa is home to 51 rooms spread out on over 127 perches of land, promising picturesque views of the gin-clear waters of the Indian Ocean. The company takes pride in its selection of only the most beautiful sites and chose Sri Lanka for its awe-inspiring nature, rich culture and wonderful people.

Speaking on the decision to invest in such a project, Dr. A.G.G.S. Weerawardana, the Chairman of EM Hotels Ltd., noted: “Our parent company EM Construction in Europe is engaged in investing in construction. They build hotels, houses, villas etc. and choose beautiful promising countries from all over the world. They saw much potential in Sri Lanka which is developing rapidly and attracting tourists from around the world. However they did identify a need for more modern hotels which is why we built Ocean Queen.”

This modern and spacious hotel consists of six storeys with a special monolithic design and panoramic elevators. It is designed to allow guests to indulge their senses to the fullest, in luxurious comfort with private balconies overlooking the vistas of the Wadduwa beach. Every aspect of the hotel has been built with the latest technology to ensure quality and safety that meets international calibre. From the materials used for construction to the final touches – everything has been carefully chosen, with attention to detail, to give each guest an experience worthy for royalty.

The fully equipped hotel boasts 4 suites, 41 deluxe rooms and six standard rooms, each tooled with all facilities necessary for a relaxing stay. The panoramic restaurant of the hotel can hold up to 150 guests and the hotel also has an iconic-barrel shaped two-storeyed beach restaurant served by kitchens armed with the most advanced technology. Keeping with the green building concepts and sustainability requirements, the hotel also has its own waste management system.

The hotel also has banquet facilities which can accommodate 250 pax to host business meetings, formal gatherings, birthday parties, weddings and other functions. It also has 8 administrative premises, and five in-house shops on the ground floor. The day spa, gym and swimming pool are also included for a soothing, positive, and recreational experience. The 33x12 metres length pool and separate kiddies’ pool ensures that the hotel is ready for guests of all ages. The hotel is friendly and accessible for the elderly and the differently abled as well ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy a good holiday.

“We are now looking for an interested party to purchase this fully-equipped property and invite local and international buyers to connect with us. Since the construction and detailing is pretty much complete, the new owners will have a readymade product for unveiling,” Dr. Weerawardana added.
