01Vehicles carrying garbage reach a new dump in Karadiyana, a suburb of Colombo on 20 April 2017, after the city’s main landfill closed following a garbage mountain collapse which killed 32 people and destroyed 145 homes. The Colombo municipality obtained permission from court to override protests from local residents and move garbage to Karadiyana as a temporary measure until a permanent solution to Colombo’s garbage problem is found - AFP
