Ambassador Rajapakse presents Credentials to President of Republic of Estonia

Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Sweden, Damayanthie Rajapakse, concurrently accredited to the Republic of Estonia presented the Letter of Credence to Kersti Kaljulaid, President of the Republic of Estonia at the Office of the President on 21 March.

The President warmly welcomed the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Estonia and wished the Ambassador all the success during the tenure in Estonia.

Ambassador Rajapakse conveyed warm greetings of the President of Sri Lanka and Prime Minister of Sri Lanka to the President of the Republic of Estonia.

The President of Estonia expressed interest to acquire current information on the political situation in Sri Lanka. The Ambassador apprised the President on the steps taken by the Government of Sri Lanka to strengthen democracy, rule of law, good governance and the reconciliation process undertaken by Sri Lanka. Further, Ambassador Rajapakse mentioned that Sri Lanka intends to expand bilateral relations with Estonia including key areas of economy, trade, tourism, science and technology and in the multilateral arena on global issues. The President of the Republic of Estonia responded by stating that Estonia is equally interested in furthering relations between the two countries.

Kyllike Sillaste-Elling, Foreign Policy Adviser to the President of Estonia, Anne Mardiste, Counsellor of Estonian Foreign Ministry and Medhavi Peiris, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Stockholm were present on the occasion.
