FDIs into capital markets?

Yesterday’s FT article on the CSE road show in Melbourne, appealing to expat Sri Lankans, triggered this.

Emotional pleas and guilt appeals may be good enough to generate some charity or philanthropy (and do not confuse it with impact investing!). But certainly not a ‘convincer’ to make rational investment decisions in a competitive world. We need a very simple, rational and convincing response to just one question i.e. Why Sri Lanka Vs. competition?  And answering that requires deep soul searching and getting our house in order.

Sanity, not vanity is the need of the hour!
