Army hands over 33 houses to war-affected families

The Army has handed over 33 newly constructed houses, valued at Rs. 33 million, to displaced families of welfare centres in the Jaffna Peninsula.

The houses were handed over by Major General Mahesh Senanayaka, Commander Security Force (Jaffna) – SF (J) and Nagalingham Vethanayahan, the District Secretary of Jaffna.

Under Phase – II, a total of 33 of the most deserving displaced families, still languishing in 30 relief and welfare centers across the peninsula were selected to be presented with ownership certificates.

Addressing the recipients, the Commander of the Security Forces in Jaffna stated that the Sri Lanka Army would continue the process and construct another 225 houses in the Mavankalladdi area with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Navy and the Sri Lanka Air Force. (Colombo Gazette)
