Asoka De Silva School of Cricket emerge champions in Bangalore

58Asoka de Silva School of Cricket participated in the YISA (Youth International Sports Academy) Under 16 International invitational cricket tournament held in Bangalore from 7-10 January. Several cricket academies and school teams from Bangalore participated in the tournament. 

Asoka de Silva School of Cricket coached by Thilak De Silva played six matches of which they won five to emerge champions. The final match was played against BGS International Residential School, who were the runner-up in the Karnataka Under 16 state championship. 

Asoka de Silva School of Cricket batting first scored 174 for 6 in the allotted 30 overs. Ashen De Soyza top scoring with an attacking 43 was supported by opening batsman B.M.D Sithum who scored a steady 35. BGS International in reply could only manage 132 all out, struggling against the Asoka de Silva School of Cricket spinners and were 38 for 6 at the end of 10 overs. M. Aqeel Fouzi 3 for 28, R.M.V Bandara 2 for 14 and Kalpa Banuka 2 for 29 bowled tight lines to keep the Karnataka state runner-up in check. Ashen De Soyza was adjudged the man of the final.

M. Hadil Ismi, the Captain of Asoka de Silva School of Cricket with his consistent performance with the bat and ball won the award for the Best All-Rounder while Lasen Goonarathna, the Vice-Captain of Asoka de Silva School cricket was adjudged the Best Batsman of the Tournament. M. Aqeel Fouzi was adjudged the Best Bowler of the Tournament.

Thilak De Silva, the head coach at Asoka de Silva School of Cricket, currently coaches players in several age groups. He has been able to produce a considerable number of players who have represented their respective schools and some who went on to represent Sri Lanka. Nishantha was the manager on tour.

AdeSSC 140 all out (M. Hadil Ismi 40, Lasen Goonarathna 22, K.D.L. Wageesha 20) lost to JIR 141 for 6 (M. Hadil Ismi 3 for 28)

AdeSSC 174 for 6 (Ashen De Soyza 43, B.M.D Sithum 35, R.M.V Bandara 17, Vihara Attanayake 17 not out) beat BGS 132 all out (M.Aqeel Fouzi 3 for 28, R.M.V Bandara 2 for 14, Kalpa Banuka 2 for 29)
