No disagreement within the Government: Harin

The United National Party (UNP) yesterday maintained that there was no disagreement with the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), claiming that the freedom to express divergent views within had been misinterpreted by the public.

“We are able to express different views. This has been misunderstood as conflicts within the Government. President Maithripala Sirisena only changed policies when there was a clear need to do so,” Telecom and Digital infrastructure Minister Harin Fernando said yesterday while speaking at a media briefing.

He reaffirmed that there was no danger of a split in the coalition Government.

“President Maithripala needs us to survive and we need him to survive, so there is no danger of a split,” Fernando said.
