Mihidul Sathsara from Lyceum International Panadura recently became Scholarships for USA’s (SUSA) first undergraduate student to Youngstown State University (YSU) in Ohio USA. Mihidul was recently accepted to the Honors College of YSU to major in Engineering with its top international scholarship.

Founded in 1908 and accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of North Central Association YSU is ranked as a top college by Forbes (2015). US News & World Report ranks its Engineering in top 25% whilst its Business and MBA programs are AACSB accredited. State-affiliated and with a total enrolment of 12,471 of whom 11,176 are undergraduates its student-faculty ratio is 16:1. With state-of-the art academic facilities, equipment and laboratories, 77% of its undergraduate classes have fewer than 30 students.

Since 2001 SUSA has been engaged in making US education increasingly affordable to Lankan academics. Working exclusively with US Colleges and Universities SUSA travels across US each summer searching for and discovering even more affordable schools, SUSA is credited with introducing many such ‘hidden gems’ which over years have become household names in Sri Lanka.

Commenting on his placement experience Mihidul said: “SUSA was committed to the maximum with getting me the best offers from universities. The response times to all the questions I had (even minuscule) were as quick as lightning. The concern they showed to all my problems were genuine and heartfelt. I thank SUSA for all the help it has extended to me.”
