Sunhill Group celebrates 25th anniversary

07-04Sunhill Group of Companies, a renowned diversified local conglomerate, recently announced plans to celebrate its’ 25th anniversary with a felicitation of long serving employees and more business initiatives aimed at business expansion. Sunhill Group was started with a single 20 bed room hotel in Nuwara Eliya on 16 January 1992 and will be celebrating the 25th anniversary as a conglomerate with diversified interests in 19 different fields from travel and tourism to real estate and automobile trade.

Founding Chairman and the Managing Director of the Sunhill Group Deshamanya Surendra Wasantha Perera commenting on the 25th anniversary stated: “The journey up here was not the easiest. I started this business when I was 17 years old and when I was 20 I was able to start the first Sunhill Hotel in Nuwara Eliya. Today, I am proud to say we have expanded to include six modern luxury hotels in Nuwara Eliya, Pasikudah, Mount Lavinia, Colpetty, Bolgoda, Katunayake etc. and ventured into many other business areas as well. As we celebrate our journey of 25 years, I am proud to announce that we are rapidly expanding our operations to the overseas as well.”



Sunhill Group is currently expanding businesses to Dubai and plans are underway to launch a civil aviation service in 2017. 

Sunhill Group is planning to felicitate its long serving employees with special rewards, souvenirs and employees who have served for longer than 15 years will be rewarded with houses and lands, stated  Deshamanya Surendra Wasantha Perera.

Thus, we are willing to go beyond the norm to show our appreciation of them,” said Deshamanya Surendra Wasantha Perera.

As a fully local conglomerate that was raised from level zero, Sunhill Group hopes to give back to the country and the community where it’s deep rooted. Deshamanya Surendra Wasantha Perera stated that the future business initiatives will be targeted specifically at contributing to the country’s economy at a broader level and benefitting the communities the businesses operate in.
