A touch of glamour and beauty was added to the Tourism Fest held at the Independence Arcade organised by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) when the occasion was graced by Miss Sri Lanka in Europe 2016 Sabina Thorsen.

The beautiful Thorsen stole the show from the moment she was escorted to the event on a horse carriage from the entrance to the premises. She was welcomed by SLTPB officials and others in the organising committee.

Speaking at the event, Thorsen said she was delighted to be in Sri Lanka and experience the warmth and friendliness of its people. She also spoke of her involvement in various charity projects, encouraging those attending the Tourism Fest to contribute in their own way.

SLTPB Chairman Paddy Withana and Managing Director Sutheash Balasubramaniam were also present at the event.

Delivering a special speech on behalf of the SLTPB, Withana highlighted the importance of Thorsen’s involvement in promoting Sri Lanka as beautiful country, blessed with natural and cultural attractions.

Thorsen, who is half Danish, with a Sri Lankan mother and a Danish father, posed for photographs with Tourism Fest attendees and spoke of her love for travel, emphasising her keenness to visit Sri Lanka.

Among her interests is a desire to make a meaningful impact on the world by way of a business venture providing healthcare. During her stay in Sri Lanka, Thorsen attended meetings with several VIPs including the President and civil society leaders.

The Tourism Fest, creating much splendour and activity for the public in the presence of many distinguished guests, ended on a high note leading up to the Christmas holidays.
