Kick off the Xmas season with Royal Turf Club on 11 December

December is always such a special month. It ushers in the festive season celebrated all over the world and it’s the month to eat, drink and be merry. The Royal Turf Nuwara Eliya is set to roll out the barrel of fun and Christmas will be celebrated a fortnight early on 11 December 2016 to be precise. 

“We may not be able to promise you a ‘White Christmas,’ but what we can promise is one real rocking or rather galloping party,” said RTC Acting CEO and Stipendiary Steward/Jockey Coach Sinclair Marshall.

Of course racing will hold centre stage and there will be no dearth of action and excitement as the Race Course will resound to the thunder of hooves as Thoroughbreds and Sri Lankan bred equines compete for honours. But the cynosure of all eyes will be on the music and entertainment that the Royal Turf Club has lined up for everyone that day. 

Racing in Nuwara Eliya has always had a charm of its own and the Royal Turf Club’s commitment to the sport of horse racing has been exemplary. They have managed to uphold the fact that horse racing is about sport and this is what has attracted people from all walks of life to the Race Course in Nuwara Eliya. 

A fashion show by Deepthika Jayakody who will debut her label, music by Corrine Almeida, entertainment for kids and all the fun associated with clean racing is on the cards.

“A minimum of six races are programmed for the meeting on 11 December, for which close to Rs. 1.7 million in prize money will be distributed. 

Race Day is like a Carnival out there and 11 December promises to be a Red Letter Day, so make sure you are there because this is going to be biggest fiesta of all. The RTC will leave no stone unturned to get you into that Christmas spirit so be there to enjoy the fun.
