Karu Jayasuriya’s younger daughter passes away in UK

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya’s younger daughter Sanjeewani Indira Jayasuriya Dicker (40) passed away in the United Kingdom yesterday after a brief illness. 

Jayasuriya was in London at the time of her passing away. The funeral will be held in the UK, family members said. Sanjeewani Jayasuriya obtained her primary education at St. Bridget’s Convent and Devi Balika Maha Vidyalaya and Fullneck Girls School in Yorkshire. She obtained a degree in economics from the Bradford University in UK and a post-graduate diploma in economics at the London School of Economics and a Masters in LSE in development studies. Thereafter she served in several leading financial institutions holding senior positions as Marketing Manager. She was married to Human Resource Specialist Martyn Dicker and had two children aged four and one-and-a-half years old.
