Nuwara Eliya will once again be agog when the Royal Turf Club (RTC) stages its next race on 29 October at the Nuwara Eliya Racecourse.

The race will be held on Diwali, with a DJ keeping the crowd entertained with a mixture of Bollywood, Tamil and Sinhala music, guaranteed to keep the crowd going.

Race enthusiasts will be privileged to witness the new imports of Indian horses participating at the event, with anticipated big fields in all the races.

The RTC hopes to have six races with a minimum of seven runners in each race.

The RTC will be seeing new racing silks for new owners who have purchased horses at the RTC auction sale, such as Mr. Guruge and well-known Sri Lankan designer Charini Suriyage, and the formation of several new racing syndicates, which marks a first in the history of horseracing in Sri Lanka.

Some of the highest rated Class 1 horses like Silver Streak and Santos, along with other horses like Charming Grey, Absolute Red, who will compete in Class 3, and Hunhar Collorato in Class 4, are amongst the few fresh legs that will be making their debut on 29 October, making the races even more competitive and thrilling.

Entertainment for kids and all the fun associated with clean racing will be on offer, with the expectation of clear weather.

As always there will also be prizes galore on offer.

As is the norm with the RTC, drug-free racing is a given, with the welfare of the animal being of the utmost importance.
