Area Director Sri Lanka and Maldives and General Manager Taj Samudra Colombo Sarabjeet Singh won the prestigious award of Excellence in Hospitality Sector at the South Asian Partnership Summit & Business Awards hosted by World HRD Congress and endorsed by the Asian Confederation of Businesses.  

South Asian Business Awards recognise the prestige of the outstanding companies, organisations, and leaders in South Asian Region business world and honour and celebrate leaders around the region working to strengthen united, increase economic opportunity. The Convention was attended by leaders from different business fields, professionals from the worlds of economics, the arts and corporate image, quality experts, as well as academic personalities and representatives from the diplomatic corps.

With over 28 years of experience in the Taj Group, Singh is a doyen in the hotel industry. His expertise and knowledge in the field is immeasurable. Arriving in Colombo after a long stint at the Taj Krishna in Hyderabad, he brings with him the skills of a veteran in the Taj Group’s international hotel portfolio as well as luxury properties. 

He started his career as a Hotel Management Trainee at the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower, Mumbai. Thereafter, his loyalty and outstanding dedication to the growth and development of the group led him to reach stellar heights in a career spanning more than a quarter of a century.   

He is no stranger to our beautiful isle as he was stationed in Bentota during the opening of the spectacular hotel in Bentota – Vivanta by Taj.  His services have been rendered to many Taj properties from Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi, Vivanta by Taj – Fisherman’s Cove, Chennai, Taj Lake Palace – Udaipur to name a few. During his tenure, he has earned a reputation for being a Hotelier par excellence. 

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Punjab University and Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology from Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Chennai.

Singh presently overlooks two hotels in the Maldives and the three Taj properties in Sri Lanka – Taj Samudra, Colombo, The Gateway Hotel Airport Garden and Vivanta by Taj Bentota, with a total employee base of about 1,900.
