Akbar Brothers honoured as top employer

Akbar Brothers Ltd., renowned worldwide as premier exporter of Ceylon Teas, won the ‘Sri Lanka Best Employer Brand Award 2016’ at the South Asian Partnership Summit and Business Awards ceremony, held on 13 October at The Waters Edge. The adjudicating panel consisted of senior leaders, researchers and academicians from across the world, and the awards were presented by Minister of Ports and Shipping Arjuna Ranatunge.

The largest tea exporters for the past 22 years, the company added this award to its recent success at the Presidential Awards, where they received five awards, including the overall ‘Best Export Brand’. Today, Akbar Brothers has successfully diversified into a range of sectors including Power Generation, Healthcare, Packaging, and Property Development. The citations were awarded based on companies’ distinct identity that is portrayed through learning and development initiatives, HR practices, and continuous innovation.
