DHL, the world’s leading international express services provider, has been awarded Global Express Provider of the Year at Payload Asia Awards 2016. The company won the Customer Choice Award for the fifth year running and Industry Choice Award for the third consecutive year.

The accolades recognise the company’s continuous innovations and investments for enhanced customer benefits such as faster and broader access to international markets and customised logistics solutions.

DHL Express Asia Pacific CEO Ken Lee said, “The awards are a strong recognition of our extensive and robust suite of customer services and logistical flexibility. As more local businesses enter the global marketplace, we bolstered our network and infrastructure in the region to better support our customers’ growing business needs in global trade. Since the start of the year, we have made significant investments in our facilities to scale up capabilities in the region to keep pace with Asia Pacific’s continued growth.

“These include new gateways in Auckland, Jakarta and Tokyo, as well as custom-built state-of-the-art service centres in Kaohsiung and Hong Kong. In addition, we have offered a new Phnom Penh-Bangkok flight service to enhance Cambodia’s global connectivity and trade relations. Our ongoing investments continue to enhance our extensive operational network and underscore our commitment to providing high quality service to support our customers’ growth ambitions.”

Since 2010, DHL Express has implemented award-winning Certified International Specialist (CIS) training program that introduces employees to the fundamentals of international shipping and the role they play within the company’s global network. The CIS program also allows employees to undertake cross-functional modules that are relevant to their roles. As part of the CIS program, DHL Express managers undergo the Certified International Manager module which aims to develop managers who are inspired and capable of driving the highest levels of performance and results for the company and its customers. Regarded as one of the world’s largest corporate training programs, CIS has won accolades from leading organisations such as the HR Directors Summit and the Stevie Awards.

DHL Express Asia Pacific continues to invest heavily in its facilities and fleets to drive strong business growth. In 2015, the revenue of DHL Express Asia Pacific increased by 12.1% and daily shipment volumes in its Time Definite International product line grew healthily at 6.7%. Overall, the company has extended its position as Asia’s leader with a market share of 44%.

Payload Asia Award winners are selected based on a set of criteria evaluating the strength of customer service, business growth, operational performance, development strategy as well as customer and product innovation. The Customer Choice Award is voted by customers and readers of Payload Asia magazine. The Industry Choice Award winner is determined by a senior level panel drawn from across the industry. Winning both awards again is a strong validation of the company’s delivery and direction. It serves more than 40 countries and territories in the region.
