Standard Chartered once again hosted its Corporate and Priority Banking clients to an exclusive golf tournament at the scenic Victoria Golf and Country Resort, Digana, graced this year by the presence of Mahela Jayawardena, all time cricketing legend and Sri Lanka’s national icon. This year Chandana Weerasinghe walked away with the Men’s Low Gross Winner’s Trophy and Manori Jayakody emerged overall Ladies’ Champion. Other winners included Chandima Rodrigo (the longest drive – men), Roshini Sangani (the longest drive – women), Harin Udeshi (Category A), His Excellency Yi Xianliang (Category B), and Suresh Perera (Category C). Jim McCabe, Chief Executive, Standard Chartered, speaking briefly at the awards presentation said: “Standard Chartered has had the privilege of partnering business enterprise in Sri Lanka for over 150 years, and it was a pleasure to host so many of our clients who have had longstanding relationships with the bank. Their trust in our franchise has contributed to the continued growth and development of our operations in Sri Lanka.” The Standard Chartered Golf Tournament 2016 was held at the Victoria Golf and Country Resort, and the team at the VCGR supported the event not only with well-maintained greens and caddy services but also with logistics and hospitality. The tournament was enhanced by the generosity of partners who made possible some great give-aways. The Standard Chartered Golf Tournament 2016 once more featured a Mercedes Benz generously offered by DIMO as the prize for the “hole-in-one’ - which regrettably remained unclaimed. Turkish Airlines offered return air tickets for two on business class to Paris, and others such as Colombo Courtyard, Marina Bolgoda, Dialog, Singer, Hilton Colombo, Jetwing Hotels, Shangri-La, Cinnamon Hotels, Serendib Leisure, Taj Samudra, Avani Bentota, Anantara Tangalle, Hilton Colombo Residencies, Abans, Hi Magazine, and Cosmo and Echelon, all generously contributed to the great giveaways.
