I am happy to endorse and support the initiative taken for the second successive year to organise the Colombo International Maritime Conference 2016. Our Ministry together with the Minister who has accepted to be chairman of the event is very keen to be a part of this event as it helps promote Sri Lanka as a destination for maritime business activity in the region.dft-10-13

The Ministry of Ports and Shipping took the initiative in 2015 to declare the Sri Lanka Maritime Week and to observe the World Maritime Day on an annual basis as approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. The Ministry is keen to develop the sector in terms of skill, infrastructure and to attract more business to the ports of Sri Lanka.

As the Secretary of the Ministry of Ports and Shipping, I strongly believe that the activities of our ministry will help to build the national economy and the overall maritime economy of Sri Lanka. I therefor congratulate all organising committee members for organising a successful CIMC in 2015 and wish all the success for CIMC 2016.
