National Kite Festival 2016 ‘Nil Ahase Wasanthaya with X2’ paints the skies of Negombo

The National Kite Festival 2016 titled ‘Nil Ahase Wasanthaya with X2’ was held recently for the ninth consecutive time at the Negombo Beach Park. Organised by Kite Sri Lanka, this year’s competition featured a number of kite enthusiasts from around Sri Lanka. Kite competitions were held for both children and open groups. The event also featured the much-awaited Sand Castle Competition under the theme ‘World Peace’. The organisers joined hands with the Presidential Task Force on Drug Prevention and a special 1 km walk was held from the Negombo town to the Beach Park. Co-hosted by Rotary International and Interact Clubs, the Kite Walk focused on educating the general public and specifically the youth of the nation on the harm caused by drug usage. The event was proudly sponsored by X2 Ginseng drink, Trisoy soya milk drink and Power of the Sea beverages.
