Disrupt 2.0 – FutureX: ‘Developing technopreneurs in Sri Lanka’

SLASSCOM in partnership with Zebra Technologies (formerly known as Motorola Solutions Lanka Ltd.) is conducting a nationwide inter-university competition, Disrupt 2.0 – FutureX where undergraduates from State and private universities, vocational institutes and technical colleges are challenged to develop solutions for tech innovations that will address socio economic issues in Sri Lanka.

This competition which been held since 2010 focuses on building human resource capacity in mobile technology, development of entrepreneurial skills and promotion of innovation among students by igniting their innovative and creative skills. The unique value differentiator of Disrupt 2.0 – Future X is the inculcation of entrepreneurship through training, mentorship and supporting investment. 

The final demo day is scheduled to take place in November, where the top 10-15 projects will be given an opportunity to pitch their products to potential investors and will be an ideal platform for young tech enthusiasts to access market opportunities.

The official launch of the competition will take place today (20) from 9 a.m. onwards at the Construction Industry Development Authority (CIDA) Auditorium, comprising an introductory session on the expected outcomes of the program, objectives and format.

SLASSCOM is the national chamber for the IT/BPM industry in Sri Lanka and acts as the catalyst of growth for the Sri Lankan IT and BPM industry by facilitating trade and business, propagation of education and employment, encouragement of research and innovation, and by supporting the creation of a progressive national policy framework.
