Latest edition of Guide to Doing Business in SL released

The sixth edition of ‘A Step by Step Guide to Doing Business in Sri Lanka’ has been now published by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL). This publication contains useful regulatory information on starting, operating and closing a business enterprise in Sri Lanka.

As proposed by the relevant institutions, the necessary amendments up to the first quarter of 2016 are incorporated into this edition, the Central Bank said in a statement.

This is a useful source document with all information in one place for the business community and foreign investors and will assist by reducing the search costs, time and inconvenience in accessing such information. 

This publication contain information grouped under three main sections ‘Starting a Business’, ‘During the Business’ and ‘Other Activities’ and pertaining to 29 key business activities. Under each topic, comprehensive information is provided on relevant institutions, documentary requirements, regulatory clearances, associated costs and contact details of senior officers in relevant institutions and web-site addresses in order to assist users to obtain further clarifications if required. 

The CBSL has also released its latest data folder, Sri Lanka Socio-Economic Data 2016. The current data folder is the 39th volume of the series. 

This easy-to-carry data folder contains information on Country Profile; Key Economic Indicators; Country Comparisons; Socio Economic Conditions; Human Resources; National Accounts; Agriculture; Industry; Economic and Social Infrastructure; Prices and Wages; External Trade and Tourism; External Finance; Government Finance; and Money Banking and Finance. 

As the data folder presents a wide range of socio-economic data of current interest in summary form, it will be a very useful reference material for policy makers, researchers, academics, professionals, students and the general public. 

The price of a copy of ‘A Step by Step Guide to Doing Business in Sri Lanka’ publication is Rs. 500. The ‘Sri Lanka Socio-Economic Data 2016’ is priced at Rs. 100 per copy for the English version and Rs. 40 per copy for the Sinhala/Tamil version. 

The publications can be purchased from the Sales and Distribution Counters of the CBSL at its Central Point Building (Chatham Street, Colombo 01), Centre for Banking Studies (No. 58, Sri Jayewardenepura Mawatha, Rajagiriya), Regional Offices of the Central Bank (Matara, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Trincomalee and Anuradhapura) and at leading bookshops. 

In addition these will be available from 16 to 25 September at the book stall of the CBSL at the Colombo International Book Fair. The electronic versions are available for downloading from the CBSL website www.cbsl.gov.lk.
