Sri Lanka’s first ISO 17020 accreditation for vehicle emission testing goes to DriveGreen

ISO 17020 accreditation was recently awarded to DriveGreen Vehicle Emission Testing Centre for ‘managing and increasing quality of inspection, implementing process controls to reduce inefficiencies and smoothening flow of activities throughout the process’ of vehicle emission testing.

The accreditation – globally acknowledged as the quality standard for inspection facilities – was awarded by Minister of Science, Technology and Research, Susil Premajayantha MP, Chief Guest at the National Regulatory Conclave 2016 organised by Sri Lanka Accreditation Board on 1 September at Galadari Hotel, Colombo. 

SLAB Chairman Namal Rajapaksha headed the main table for this event which was attended by Ministry of Science, Technology and Research Secretary R. Wijialudchumi.

For customers, accredited inspection and testing provide the assurance of technically competent service and consistently reliable results, reducing costs and lowering risks. It is key in demonstrating that products, equipment, structures, and systems meet required specifications.

Paving the way to winning this accreditation was DriveGreen’s resolve to only use equipment and processes of the highest quality. 

“I believe this accreditation redeems us for taking the tough decision to install expensive but ultra-accurate Zero Class testing equipment in all our testing centres from inception,” said Rajeev de Alwis Director/General Manager, CleanCo Lanka Ltd. “All branches of DriveGreen vehicle emission testing centres managed by CleanCo Lanka use Zero Class equipment.”

Sri Lanka Accreditation Board (SLAB) now grants accreditation to inspection bodies against international standard ISO/IEC 17020: 2012, and this accreditation provides formal recognition that DriveGreen is competent to the requirement of the international standard.
