Ritzbury, a leading chocolate brand in Sri Lanka and the flagship chocolate brand of Ceylon Biscuits Ltd. (CBL), has stepped forward for the fifth consecutive year to be the sole sponsor of the Sir John Tarbet School Athletic Championship.

An important event in the school sports calendar, the Sir John Tarbet School Athletic Championship creates an opportunity for budding athletes to showcase their talent at both the national and international level.

Organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Athletic Association (SLSAA), the Sir John Tarbet School Athletic Championship 2016 will kick off on 13 September at the Mahinda Rajapakse Stadium in Biyagama. The three-day meet (13-15 September) will draw over 3,000 young school athletes from all parts of the country in the senior championship.

Following the senior championship, the junior championship will commence in October, and will also be organised under the patronage of Ritzbury.

“Ritzbury has always been at the forefront in uplifting young athletes of the country, and we are glad to extend our support towards the success of the country’s oldest school athletics championship for the fifth consecutive year. Supporting Sri Lanka’s youth athletes through successful partnerships with the Sri Lanka Schools Athletics Association and other sporting bodies in the country is integrated into CBL’s core CSR ethos,” said CBL Group General Manager – Marketing Theja Peiris.

The Ritzbury website (www.ritzburyjohntarbet.lk) was launched in 2014 to share daily score updates, key highlights and the records of the meet, and this year too the website will carry the latest updates of the upcoming meet and feature the winners, giving access to the public with exciting updates.

“Ritzbury as a brand has been supporting the Sir John Tarbet School Athletic Championship for the past four years and this year also they have come forward to support this national level event. Uplifting school athletics is one of the key priorities of the Sri Lanka Schools Athletic Association and initiatives of this nature cannot be fulfilled without the support of conglomerates like CBL which carries many brands under its belt. We wish to continue this partnership and elevate national level athletics to support all Sri Lankan school athletes,” said the President of the Sri Lanka Schools Athletics Association (SLSAA) N.A.D.R. Hemantha.

Ritzbury is a longstanding supporter of sports in Sri Lanka including the Junior National Squash Championship, the Inter-International Schools Athletic Meet and the Mercantile Athletic Meet. Ritzbury is the number one chocolate brand in the market and is recognised as an innovative manufacturer which has revolutionised the Sri Lankan chocolate industry.
