A week-long gastronomic tour of Mexico is on offer at The Kingsbury Hotel to mark the first-ever celebrations of Mexico’s National Day in Sri Lanka.

The Embassy of Mexico and the Honorary Consulate of Mexico in Sri Lanka, headed by Mohan Pandithage, is hosting the ‘Who Is The Hottest?’ food festival featuring celebrity Mexican Chef Gabriela Ruiz-Lugo from 3-11 September at The Kingsbury Hotel.

Chef Gaby, owner of restaurant Gourmet MX in the Mexican state of Tabasco, will be cooking up the hottest Mexican chillies, glazed with the most refined Agave juices at The Grill, Sky Lounge and The Kings to tickle the taste-buds for a true taste of Mexico like never before.

Mexico has recently launched a National Policy to Foster Gastronomy by the name of ‘Ven a Comer’ (Savor Mexico), which will take the flavours of Mexico worldwide to promote its natural and cultural wealth. In November 2010, UNESCO singled out traditional Mexican cuisine as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

To mark the 206th National Day of Mexico, Melba Pría, Ambassador of Mexico to India and non-resident Ambassador to Sri Lanka, will travel to Colombo on 7 September. Earlier this year, Ambassador Pría presented her Letters of Credence to President Maithripala Sirisena.
