Dr. Prasad Medawatte promoted to CEO of Lanka Hospitals

Lanka Hospitals Corporation Plc has announced the appointment of Dr. Prasad Medawatte as CEO with effect from yesterday. He was previously the Deputy Director Medical Services at the Company and has over 17 years of experience in healthcare management and operations.

Prior to the appointment as CEO, he has held top management positions at Lanka Hospitals including Deputy Director Medical Services while he also covered the duties of CEO for the past three months. During this venture he has uplifted the medical care operations with assuring quality patients care and given strategic leadership to achieve overall institutional goals. He has introduced and penetrated the healthcare market in Seychelles and other international segments. Establishment of an International Patient Care Centre at Lanka Hospitals, and leading as the head of the Steering Committee of the Joint Commission International Accreditation are some of his other achievements. 

Prior to joining Lanka Hospitals , he has served in healthcare planning in the government sector in Sri Lanka up to 2002 and from 2003-2009 he has the working experience in Seychelles, both in the government and the private sector. Since 2009, he has held posts as head of institutions in the private healthcare sector in Sri Lanka. He has established leadership, proficiency and business insights thriving with a passion as a young healthcare professional.

Presently he is reading for his Master in Business Administration at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and he holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Diploma in Fitness and Nutrition - USA, Divers Examiner and Diving Physician, and Certification in Diving Medicine Part 1 and 2 (Germany).
