Assen appointed Director of Police Tourist Division

Superintendent of Police Laziran Assen has been appointed as the new Director of the Police Tourist Division. Prior to this appointment, he was serving as the Superintendent of Police (Colombo Central ll), supervising Fort, Slave Island, Pettah and Dam Street Police Stations.

SP Assen is an old boy of Zahira College Colombo and, also is a pioneer member of the elite Special Task Force (STF). He has served in the Operational areas of Ampara, Batticaloa, Mannar and Vavuniya during the peak of terrorism and has been awarded the ‘Poorna Boomi Medal’ and ‘Northern Humanitarian Ops Medal’ for his gallant service in these areas. Coming from a Police generation dating back to the 1860s, SP Assen is a fifth generation member of the Police Service.
