JKH is most admired corporate house once againComBank, MAS and Unilever retain their places in top 4

The 12th edition of LMD’s Most Respected entities in Sri Lanka has been released, its publisher Media Services announced yesterday.

“Headlining the admiration list is John Keells Holdings (JKH), which occupies the No. 1 spot of the Most Respected rankings for a record 11th time. It registered an aggregate medals tally of 424, compared to 404 in 2015,” the magazine notes.

Commercial Bank retains its second place from last year, with 79 gold medals, 70 silver medals and 49 bronze medals to its name. And MAS and Unilever are the only other corporates with over 50 gold medals in the bag, claiming 73 and 52 medals respectively.

A spokesman for Media Services states: “Notably, the four Most Respected entities in the 2016 rankings are same as in the previous year.”

The top 10 in the 2016 edition of the Most Respected entities in Sri Lanka include four diversified conglomerates, two private sector banks and two of the nation’s leading apparel manufacturers.

Meanwhile, the movers and shakers in this year’s special edition are led by Bank of Ceylon (which has climbed four places, to No. 12), Brandix Lanka (it is three spots higher, at No. 10), Hemas Holdings (it has gained two places, to No. 9) and Hayleys (which has moved up a notch, to fifth place).

And five new entrants grace the top 20 in the Most Respected ‘Hall of Fame’ – Nestlé (at No. 11), Fonterra (15), Softlogic (16), DIMO (17) and Maliban (18).

The 2016 edition of the Most Respected features 66 listed companies, 56 private entities, 26 multinationals and seven state enterprises, with JKH, MAS, Unilever and Bank of Ceylon leading these categories respectively, as was the case last year.

The magazine is now available at leading supermarkets and bookshops across the island and the principal rankings appear on LMD’s website (www.LMD.lk), along with profiles of some of the nation’s most admired corporate houses.
