At this prestigious annual event, awards will be presented to the Best Green Constructions, Green Construction Products, Green Construction Services and Green Construction Training Managers.

Parallel to this key awards ceremony, The Ceylon Institute of Builders and the Building Economics and Management Research Unit (BEMRU), Department of Building Economics, University of Moratuwa, will be jointly organising the 5th World Construction Symposium on 29, 30 and 31 July at the Colombo Galadari Hotel. In addition, the Construction Expo – 2016 jointly organised by The Ceylon Institute of Builders and Lanka Exhibition and Conference Services (LECS) will be held on a grand scale at the BMICH on 29, 30 and 31 July.

Expressing his thoughts on the forthcoming Green Construction Awards – 2016, Chairman of the Institute Dr. Rohan Karunaratne said: “The core objective of organising this important awards ceremony is to give an impetus to green constructions in Sri Lanka and also to propel them to achieve international benchmark quality standards. It was The Ceylon Institute of Builders which pioneered the concept of rewarding green constructions with accolades in line with global standards to offer a boost to the industry in Sri Lanka. We have already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Government Building and Construction Authority (BCA) of Singapore. Green constructions in Sri Lanka are inspected in terms of compliance with accepted international standards and norms and quality certification granted to those within the ambit of these global specifications. It is within this scope that Green Awards will be presented at the upcoming event.”

The Ceylon Institute of Builders conducts green constructions management higher training courses to help and guide green buildings in Sri Lanka to achieve international benchmark standards. A training session in this regard was held recently with the participation of executive grade officers of leading corporates in the industry. They will be amongst those eligible for accolades and certificates at the Green Awards – 2016.

The lead resource person at the green constructions management higher training courses organised by The Ceylon Institute of Builders is Dr. Lal Jayamaha, an expert in the sphere of energy and green constructions.
