Cinnamon Lakeside holds Inter-Department Cricket Tournament

Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo held their much anticipated inter-Department Cricket Tournament on 17 July at the Malay Grounds.

Following a series of matches with other departmental teams, Sports Centre and Engineering ‘A’ were the finalists vying for the coveted trophy. After an exciting match, the Sports Centre team emerged winners. Sports Centres’ Dhananjaya Kulathunga was recognised as the Best Bowler, Duminda Fernando as Man of the Tournament and Ravi Fernando for the Highest Number of Tournament Sixes. Thilak Wijesuriya from the Engineering Department was awarded the Best Batsman award.

The event saw 24 teams made up by 192 players representing various departments of the hotel taking part in the tournament, inclusive of two women’s teams. The champions of the ladies team was the F&B team.

Led by the amiable General Manager of Cinnamon Lakeside Dermot Gale, 234 Cinnamon Lakeside associates donned cricketing gear and took to the field for a series of fiercely competitive matches.

The fun-filled day was made even more memorable with the carnival atmosphere that was created for associates to kick back and relax with plenty of food, drinks and fun activities organised.
