PODI JOBS: Sri Lanka’s 1st freelancing platform

PODI JOBS (‘PODI’ is the Sri Lankan word for small) forms a platform for Sri Lankans to do freelance work and get paid from anywhere in the island. PODI JOBS entails putting in touch employers and freelancers for work such as creating websites to writing copy/text, maintaining social media pages and many more jobs. PODI TASKS include freelancers marketing a package of services they offer and for PODI SERVICES the team oversees, manages and delivers the complete job hassle free using our PODI Taskers or freelancers and PODI Hires deals with head hunting for full time positions using our freelance network. 

They want to make a difference in the lives of Sri Lankan women, with those who sign up with us and the rest and that is why a percentage from our 15% PODI Fee 

(not charged separately for PODI Services) goes to assist and empower single-income families, deserving stay-at-home mothers, women and girls. We’ve helped three to four single-income families with basic household needs, given out flood relief and we’ve even empowered a dyslexic girl by awarding an embroidery scholarship (in partnership with Studio Stitch) so she can start her own business once done!

PODI JOBS started entirely on social media and utilises Google Products to run their operation. They want to spend less so they can do more social good. They now have more than 400 freelancers signed up with them and 50% are stay-at-home-mums/women. With over 45 jobs successfully completed so far, they act as a mediator between PODI Taskers and Clients, from holding deposits to negotiating disputes and refunds. We want to make sure clients walk away happy, with great work and PODI Taskers reach their potential, make timely deliveries and get paid for their effort. 

Freelancing and paying only for the work you get done is the future of local companies. It’s happened globally and it’s time for Sri Lanka to step into that era.
