SPACE opens in Colombo

Lalin Michael Jinasena, Sri Lankan hotelier, entrepreneur, photographer and interior designer, the founder and CEO of L.M. Jinasena & Co., opened ‘SPACE’, his latest venture to a distinguished gathering, which included Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who graced the opening.

Located on Dharmapala Mawatha, Space is Jinasena’s latest venture which like all his previous projects is bound to be a success. 

Jinasena’s passion for design was evident from an early age and was something he developed further by completing an undergraduate degree in product design and manufacturing engineering, followed by a business masters degree at Loughborough University in the UK. 

‘SPACE’ is an exclusive furniture showroom located in the heart of the commercial district of Colombo, at Dharmapala Mawatha, Colombo 7, serving clientele looking for contemporary and stylish, yet affordable furniture for their home, offices, retail venues or hotels. The beautiful chic furniture pieces have been hand-picked by Jinasena himself, and imported to Sri Lanka. SPACE distinguishes itself from other stores by carrying very modern unique furniture that are not easily found in Sri Lanka, and the store has a large stock of items which means products are readily available, and customers don’t have to wait months to get pieces either made or imported.

For projects, SPACE provides a comprehensive catalogue of office furniture and hotel furniture for furnishing an entire project from end to end.  

Lalin hails from the Jinasena family, and from the 108 year old Jinasena group of companies, where he worked together with his father and Chairman, the late Dr. Nihal Jinasena. In 2006, he ventured away from the family business and founded LM Jinasena & Co. This group comprises companies, which he created himself, as well as companies he inherited from the Jinasena group. 

The L.M. Jinasena Group is involved and pioneering in Hospitality and Food and Beverage, manufacturing and export, trading, and includes a subsidiary Design company, while Jinasena’s design skills in Building Design, Interior Design and Furniture Design are sought throughout the world.

Designer and entrepreneur Lalin Jinasena, is best known for his iconic hotels, Casa Colombo Collection in Colombo and Mirissa, which have brought vast recognition to Sri Lanka.
