Untitled-1The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) in collaboration with the International Trade Centre (ITC) is scheduled to host the 16th edition of the prestigious World Export Development Forum (WEDF) in Sri Lanka on 12 and 13 October.

A highlight of the global export industry calendar, the WEDF is a widely represented summit, which sees the participation of leading professionals, policy makers, industry practitioners and industrialists themselves both local and foreign in the field of international trade from around the world. Themed ‘Trade for Success: Connect, Compete, Change’, WEDF 2016 in addition is marked as a remarkably promising networking event for business leaders in the export sector, especially SMEs.

This year’s event promises to attract a high representation of globally recognised professionals and businesses. As a platform offering infinite opportunities to capitalise on the local trade potential, the conference is expected to be attended by the cream of the local commercial sector, whose interest in the summit bears great promise for the immediate future of the local economy.

“Developing the local export sector is arguably the most definitive undertaking to help develop the local economy and Sri Lanka’s competitiveness in the global market. This understanding is the cornerstone for the endeavours initiated by the EDB, and WEDF is the pinnacle of furthering this vision. We are happy to extend our invitation to all stakeholders of the economy to come forward and join hands with us in any capacity to make this conference a beneficial one,” commented Export Development Board Chairperson Indira Malwatte.

The conference will be held on 12 and 13 October. The EDB will continue to release information related to the event in the lead-up to the conference dates on the dedicated web portal: www.wedf.edb.gov.lk.
