Sarath Fonseka to get UNP membership

Regional Development Minister Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka is expected to join the United National Party (UNP), party sources revealed yesterday.

He is expected get formal membership at an occasion to be held in Sirikotha, the UNP headquarters, on Wednesday.

So far Fonseka has been working with the UNP according to an agreement with his Democratic Party. 

Last February Fonseka was given a UNP National List seat in Parliament following a decision of the UNP Working Committee to fill the vacant position of late UNP MP M.K.D.S. Gunawardena.
