CMEC helps build flood affected homes in Puttalam

China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) donated building materials to the value of over Rs. 1 million to those affected by floods in the Puttalam area. The building materials were handed over to the affected families with the support from the Karuwalagaswewa Divisional Secretariat in Puttalam, by CMEC officials on Wednesday, 15 June.

CMEC who operates the Norochcholai Lakvijaya coal power plant has helped 32 families in the Neela Bamma area to reconstruct their homes which were damaged in the floods. The company had decided on this initiative after officials from CMEC in Puttalam who visited the affected area saw the devastation some families were faced with.  

CMEC has done several other CSR activities such as donations to the National Cancer hospital and to the Mihinthalaya temple, and will continue to assist the residents of this area and across the island.
