First flag pinned on President, marking Flag Week of National Housing Day

The first flag launching the Flag Week to mark the National Housing Day which fell on 23 June was pinned on President Maithripala Sirisena, followed by the pinning of the flag on Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. The function was held at the President’s Office.

Minister DFT-4-5Sajith Premadasa officially pinned the flags on the President and Prime Minister.

Declared the National Housing Day, 23 June marks the birthday of former President Ranasinghe Premadasa, the founder of the National Housing Development Authority.

Several programs, including the launch of new housing projects, will be launched during the National Housing Week, which will be held for a week commencing on 23 June.Minister Premadasa said that houses will be built for homeless families utilising the income raised through the sale of flags during the National Housing Week.

A special project will be launched in this year’s National Housing Day program for the construction of houses for homeless families suffering from kidney diseases.
