Korea’s Vice Minister, large delegation from infrastructure sector visit Sri Lanka

Korea Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Vice Minister Kim Kyung Hwan visited Sri Lanka from 19 to 21 June, accompanied by governmental officials and a large business delegation representing the infrastructure sector, including Korea Expressway Corporation, Korea Land and Housing Corporation, and Korea Water Resources Corporation.

On 20 June, the Vice Minister made a courtesy call on Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe and discussed various ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and economic engagement in the infrastructure sector, along with agriculture and education.

He also held bilateral meetings with Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka and Ministry of Higher Education and Highway Secretary D.C. Dissanayake, to discuss cooperative methods for large-scale infrastructure projects including the Western Province Megapolis and the construction of the Central Expressway.

During the meeting with Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade Malik Samarawickrama, both sides discussed several issues of mutual interest including energy-related projects and an industrial complex in Sri Lanka.
