The Sri Lanka Tourism promotion event was successfully completed at the Art Centre in Melbourne on 28 May during the final performance of Pearl Fishers Opera which was played to a packed house.

1,500 gift packs of Ceylon Tea were provided by Dilmah and Sri Lanka Tourism. Brochures showcasing key tourist attractions of the island were handed over to the patrons by the staff of the Art Centre. The Pearl Fishers teaser was shown on widescreen TVs in the lobbies of the Art Centre which too was a great promotion for Sri Lanka as a destination as the back drop of this opera was of Ceylon and the cast wore colourful sarees and costumes of ancient Ceylon.

Pearl Fishers Opera is famous for the duet which has been performed by many a top notch opera singers such as Placido Domingo and Andrea Boccelli.

The staff of Art Centre in Melbourne and the Consulate General for Sri Lanka in Melbourne carried out the successful promotion.

The logistics involved were arduous and the stringent requirements of the Opera Australia were met very satisfactorily.
